Mangalore, Dec 7: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) officials evicted illegally-erected huts near Maryhill bus stand here on Thursday December 7 morning.
Some daily-wage-workers had erected huts near the Maryhill bus stand some months ago. Sensing that if allowed to continued, the place may soon turn into a slum area, the locals had lodged complained with the MCC officials.
Acting on this complaint, the MCC officials evicted the huts on Thursday morning. They also evicted an encroachment on nearby government land by a private person.
