Moodbidri, Dec 6: Alva's Education Foundation in association with department of Public Instructions of the state government, Pre-university and Vocational Education department, Bangalore is organizing state-level Ekalavya Sports Meet - 2006 at Swaraj Maidan here from Thursday December 7 to Sunday December 10.
 
Around 5,000 athletes and officials from all over the state are participating the sports meet. Competitions will be held in a total of 140 sports disciplines and the winners will be presented with cash prizes.

The sports meet will be inaugurated on Thursday December 7 evening at 4 by district-in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty.  MLA K Abhayanchandra Jain will preside over the inaugural function while D V Sadanand Gowda, MP and president of state BJP hoist the flag.

Prashanth Hegde, former MLA Amarnath Shetty, ZP president Mamatha Gatti, SG Hegde, deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao, Madangopal and Kunjappa will be the chief guests on the occasion.

The valedictory of the sports meet will be held on Sunday December 10 night at 8.  Vinay Hegde of Nitte Education Trust will distribute prizes to the winners while Dr V S Acharya, state minister for medical education will be the special delagate. 

MLA K Abhayachandra Jain will preside over while MLA Capt Ganesh Karnik, former minister Amarnath Shetty and Prakash Shetty, director of MRG group, Bangalore will be the chief guests.
