Will hit road alone to assess projects: Uttar Pradesh CM

Lucknow, Dec 22 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to cycle alone to have a first hand account of development work in the state.

"Do not be surprised if you see me cycling on the under-construction bicycle track at Vikramaditya Marg in the city (Lucknow) or at any other place soon," he said told reporters on the sidelines of an event here Sunday.

He said development was a top priority of the Samajwadi Party government and he would like to personally keep an eye on the progress of development projects across Uttar Pradesh.

Besides, the chief minister said he saw no danger to his life in hitting the road alone.

His latest statement is being seen in political circles here as a result of the comment his father and party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav recently made that the chief minister merely lays foundation stones rather than inaugurating of projects.
