Mangalore, Dec 5: Deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao has issued an order to hold probe into the police firing at Mulki on Friday December 1 which claimed two lives. 

A press release stated that additional district magistrate and headquarters assistant Ashok G Bhat has been appointed as the enquiry officer. The enquiry must be completed within three months, the release stated.

Bhat will look in to matters such as the necessity of opening fire and whether it was justified. Public notice will be issued before each sitting conducted by Bhat.

The curfew in Mulki will be relaxed during the day from Tuesday December 5 from 7 am onwards. The night curfew will continue until further notice.
