Bantwal, Dec 2: People from the surrounding areas on Friday December 1 took to streets protesting against the liquor shops running in the region. The protest was led by TP opposition leader N Subbanna Shetty.
The agitators demanded that except 145 liquor shops which have permission to operate, rest all the illegally-run shops should immediately be closed as per the order passed in the taluk panchayat.
Stree Shakti Group members Sarapadi, Narikombu, Kuriyala, Maninalkuru, Kempugudde, Lilypade, Brahmarakutlu and other places participated in the protest.
TP standing committee president Sesappa Gowda, members Shailini Jain, Ratnakumar Chowta, Ramdas Shenoy and others addressed the protestors.
