Kundapur, Dec 2: In an unusual incident, people staged a protest against the lokayukta raid in which PSI Raghav D Padil was nabbed on Thursday November 30.

As reported earlier SI Raghav Padil was arrested for having accepted a bribe of Rs 2,000 from one Ashif of Hakladi who had sought permission to open a lottery shop at Basrur.  A case was registered against him in this regard.

However, later the complainant had changed his statement and said that he had trapped Raghav Padil since a matka bidder from the locality had asked him to do.  This had enraged the people who took to streets on Thursday.

Bajrang Dal local leader Girish Kundapur and advocate Sridhar M led the protest and addressed the gathering.  They demanded that the matka bidder who hatched the conspiracy to trap SI Raghav Padil should be arrested and all charges registered against the later should be withdrawn.

JD (S) leader Tangappan, Mohammad Mansoor, Yousuf Beary, BJP leader Kishore Kumar, Mohandas Shenoy, Sudhir K, Ramanna Shetty and others participated in the protest.  The agitators later submitted an appeal to chief minister through AC Prabhakar Sharma and CI Valentine D'Souza.
