Mangalore, Dec 1: The district administration observed World AIDS Day on Friday December 1 by organising a procession and a walkathon from Tagore Park to Town Hall.
The walkathon was organised under the aegis of District Aids Core Committee (DACC). Mayor Vijaya Arun flagged off the walkathon, in which students and NSS volunteers participated. Tableaux by Population Service International (PSI) displaying the addresses and phone numbers of voluntary counselling and testing centres in the district were held on the occasion.
'Sadhan clinic' a mobile testing clinic by PSI participated in the procession. There was also a street play in front of the Town Hall organised by PSI to create awareness on AIDS.
