Udupi, Dec 1: A private bus speeding towards the city from Mangalore rolled down into a gorge at Katpadi near here after ramming into a lorry and an electric pole here on Friday November 30.
The bus belonging to Vishal Travels Company while in a bid to overtake a vehicle rammed into the lorry which was coming from the opposite direction. The bus was in such speed that it even rammed into an electric pole before rolling down into the gorge by the roadside.
However none of the passengers sustained major injuries. Only a few of them have sustained some bruises. Since there was no electricity supply, a major and possible tragedy was averted. On the other hand even the lorry rolled into the gorge with its tyres thrown away.
Reckless driving by the bus driver is said to be the reason for accident. Kaup police have registered a case in this regard.
