Mangalore, November 30: Jamaat-E-Islami Hind will organize a nationwide 'Islamic Family Campaign' from Friday December 1 to Sunday December 10.

Addressing the media persons at the press club, member of the women's wing, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Mangalore unit, Shahnaz M on Thursday November 30 said that the campaign aims to resurrect and create awareness in the Muslim community. She mentioned that there are several issues that need to be addressed in the Muslim social life. In-spite-of no mention of dowry being found in the Islamic shariah, Muslims are involved in giving and taking dowry. Inappropriate knowledge regarding polygamy leading to misuse of the practice is another problem.

Shahnaz M revealed that the campaign will involve bringing in different aspects of family life into focus. Marriage problems, difference of opinion in the family, child training, misconception regarding women being restricted to the four walls of the house are some of the things that will be discussed and solutions proposed in the context of shariah. 

The campaign will see public orations, visits to the Muslim families across the country, discussions separately for men and women and so on. Cultural programmes involving skits that depict the problems prevailing within the Muslim community will also be a part of the awareness campaign. 

Convener, Sajida Momin and member of the women's wing, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Sabeeha Fathima were also present at the press conference.
