Udupi, Nov 29: Sri Ram Sene came out with a novel way of protest against Nagarjuna Power Plant here on Tuesday November 28.

The Sena activists painted the 'Nagarjuna Sahakara' board with black.  The board has been put up on the police outpost which is situated near Service Bus Stand here.   Nagarjuna had donated the same in the year 1999.

Speaking on the occasion district convener said that Sri Ram Sene would take an active part in the anti-Nagarjuna movement.  He also criticized district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya for his diplomatic stand and asked him let his stand know about the project.

State co-convener Jitesh Kumar, zonal convener Kumaraswamy, co-convener Mahesh Mulur, Chandrahas Shetty, Vikram Baliga and others were present at the public meet.

The Sri Ram Sene activists tried to paint the Nagarjuna nameplate which is there on the police outpost with black after the meeting.  But the police stopped them since the police outpost is a public property. This led to heated arguments between the police and activists.  Meanwhile some of them climbed up and painted a part of the board with black colour and hoisted bhagawdhwaja.

However, the situation still grew intense and even SP Subrahmaneshwar Rao's visit did not ease the tension.  Finally the protestors incluing Jitesh Kumar, Rajesh Yermal, Kumaraswamy, Chandrahas Shetty, Vamanraj, Gokul, Rohit, Rajesh, Manindar, Mahesh Mulur, Vikram Baliga and others were arrested by the police.

They were later produced before the judge on Tuesday night.  The police have registered a case for damaging the public property and interrupting their duty.
