Mangalore, Nov 21: The Datta Jayanthi celebrations to be held at Bababudangiri on December 4 will be boycotted by the Rashtriya Hindu Sene.  This was announced by Pramod Mutalik, president, Hindu Sene, at a press meet here recently.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, could not fulfill its promise of protecting the Hindutva principals during the recent bhajana yatra at Dattapeeetha, said Mutalik, stating it as the reason to boycott the celebrations. The party did not take any action when the BJP state president and three MLAs were arrested during bhajana yatra.

He added that the Sene is boycotting Datta Jayanthi celebrations only for the present year.  However, if the government permits Hindus to observe the event properly, including the observance of Homa at Dattapeetha, they will join in the celebrations from next year.
