Mangalore, Nov 21: President of Indian Union Muslim League G M Banatwala has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to place the Sachar Committee report in Parliament.
In a press release here, Banatwala said the report had confirmed that Muslims were the most backward community.
The committee, however, had not recommended reservation for Muslims; but Parliament could decide on it and the Prime Minister had to take up this issue, he said.
The IUML would soon launch a nation-wide campaign to ensure that educational and economic backwardness of Muslims was adequately addressed, he said.
