Mangalore, Nov 20: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has deplored the condition of National Highways 17 and 48 passing through the district, saying it could prove highly dangerous to motorists.

In a press release here on Saturday, KCCI president John Prasad Menezes said that the highways had been lying in a poor state for more than six months, posing great hazards to the lives of the nearly three-lac people traveling every day on them.

The KCCI has organised a silent protest march at 11 a.m. on Monday, and it has appealed to the people to join it in large numbers. The march will be held from NMPT hospital circle on to Bykampady Bridge, towards the APMC yard on National Highway 17 and ending at Mittabail.
