Jammu, Nov 17: A student of class 10, who was allegedly deputed by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) for throwing a grenade on civilians and some VIPs during the holy month of Ramadan, was arrested on Friday.

The boy was arrested after receiving intelligence inputs about his links with the LeT cadres, a senior police official said.

Bashir Ahmed alias Nika of Koti village of Doda was deputed by the LeT to hurl a grenade on civilians and VIPs in Doda town as they would head to the mosque for offering prayers in the Ramadan month, Doda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manohar Singh said.

However, Ahmed failed to hurl the grenade due to heavy deployment of police enroute to and around the mosque, he said, adding that the boy would be sent to interrogation to ascertain his involvement with the outfit's activities.
