Modi meets Bhutan, Bangladesh PMs


Kathmandu, Nov 26 (IANS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday held bilateral meetings with his Bhutanese and Bangladeshi counterparts on the sidelines of the Saarc Summit here.

He met Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who presented him with a 'Khada' greeting scarf.

Tobgay tweeted ahead of the meeting: "First bilateral meeting today is with Indian PM Modi. A lot to discuss, especially how to take Saarc forward after his powerful speech today."

He later tweeted: "Good meeting with PM @narendramodi. He invited me to attend Vibrant Gujarat this January."

Modi "also appreciated Bhutan National Reading Year - 2015, and committed to send experts who organized 'Gujarat is Reading'."

Modi also met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The ministry of external affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted later: "India-Bangladesh Prime Ministers see greater prospects of cooperation amongst democracies of South Asia."
