10,000 Iraqis killed since January: UN

United Nations, Nov 19 (IANS): About 10,000 Iraqis were killed and 20,000 others injured since the start of the year, the UN has said, expressing readiness to send a panel to Iraq to probe the Islamic State (IS) Sunni radical group's crimes.

The IS carried out crimes which were undeniable and unbelievable, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein said at a UN Security Council session on the situation in Iraq Tuesday, MENA news agency reported Wednesday.

IS's crimes amount to genocide, he added.
