New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS): Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma Wednesday said a weekly monitoring system will be introduced soon for the various organisations under the ministry and insisted on timely spending of funds.

Sharma emphasised that 67 percent of the funds must be spent by December as per guidelines and targets must be met by the various organisations. He was reviewing the works of the ministry in a meeting.

Heads from various cultural departments like Archaeological Survey of India, National School of Drama and Lalit Kala Academy attended the meeting.

Outlining his priorities, Sharma said cleaning the monuments under the Swachha Bharat campaign will be undertaken, security will be provided to tourists and connectivity will be improved for poorly connected destinations.
