US varsity students attend lectures at Presidency


Kolkata, Nov 19 (IANS): One of India's prestigious educational establishments, Presidency University, here is hosting a batch of students and faculty from a top-ranked US university as part of a student exchange programme, a statement said.

Nine students (undergraduate and graduate) and two faculty members from Atlanta's Georgia State University (GSU) are attending lectures at Presidency University's Department of Political Science as per a deal inked October 2013.

"After one year of signing the memorandum, the first batch of students from has now arrived at Kolkata and has started attending class lectures at the Department of Political Science, Presidency University.

"Thus, from the current semester, the Memorandum of Co-operation has been effectively implemented," a PU release said.

The agreement was signed between PU's department of political science and GSU's College Of Arts and Sciences.

The American university is ranked sixth among up and coming US universities, 14th in racial and ethnic diversity and 14th in economic diversity, according to a report.
