President confident of strengthened ties with Oman


New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee Monday greeted the sultan and people of Oman on the eve of its national day, and expressed confidence that the mutually beneficial comprehensive partnership between the two nations will continue to further "diversify and strengthen".

In his message to Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al-Said of Oman, Mukherjee said: "On behalf of the government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it is my pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to Your Majesty and the people of the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of your national day."

He said: "Our two countries have historically enjoyed close and friendly relations based on millennia-old cultural and economic exchanges, marked by extensive people-to-people contacts."

"I am confident that our mutually beneficial comprehensive partnership encompassing various spheres of engagement will continue to further diversify and strengthen," he said.

He said: "I take this opportunity to convey to Your Majesty my best wishes for your personal good health and well-being, and for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Sultanate of Oman."
