Mangalore, Nov 9: The members of NSUI staged protest against the state government for making helmets compulsory in 6 city corporation limits on Thursday November 9 morning.

The students led by president Tejasvi said that it is one of the most ridiculous rules and is not oriented towards the safety of riders as told by the government.  "If safety is the priority of government then, why it is only in 6 City Corporation limits.  Accidents are quite less within the city limits as compared to highways.  It is nothing but bowing before the lobbying of helmet companies," he added.

He further criticized that if the government has excluded Bellary from the rule owing to warm weather, then the city too needs the same exemption since weather is just too hot in the city too.
