Bangalore, Nov 9: The Union Home Ministry has sounded an alert to Karnataka to step up vigil and security to key installations, IT and BT sector and shopping malls in the wake of threats by militants, State Home Minister M P Prakash said on Wednesday November 8.

In the aftermath of the arrest of two Pakistani militants in Mysore, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has asked the state to tighten security measures, he told reporters here.

"Patil has written to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy alerting that Bangalore is the number one target of militants," Prakash said. The city is home to several shopping malls, where thousands of people throng. The state police have also been initiating stringent measures to curb activities of rowdy elements, he said.
