UN condemns bomb attacks in Tripoli

United Nations, Nov 14 (IANS): The UN Security Council (UNSC) has condemned the bomb attacks against the embassies of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Tripoli, Libya.

"The members of the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) condemn all acts of violence against diplomatic premises, which endanger innocent lives and seriously impede the normal work of diplomatic officials," Xinhua cited from an official statement Friday.

Bombs exploded Thursday near the embassies of Egypt and the UAE in Tripoli, causing material damage but no casualties.

Like many other countries, both Egypt and the UAE have pulled diplomatic staff out of the Libyan capital amid fighting between armed factions in Tripoli.

Libya has witnessed escalating violence since the 2011 turmoil that toppled the country's former leader Muammar Gaddafi.
