Pakistan successfully test fires ballistic missile


Islamabad, Nov 13 (IANS): Pakistan Thursday conducted a successful training launch of an intermediate range ballistic missile, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

The launch of Shaheen-II (Hatf-VI) was the culminating point of the Field Training Exercise of Army Strategic Forces Command, Dawn online reported.

The Shaheen-II missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 1,500 km.

The launch, which had its impact point in the Arabian Sea, was witnessed by General Strategic Plans Division Director Lt. Gen. Zubair Mahmood Hayat and Army Strategic Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Obaid Ullah Khan.

Other witnesses included Muhammad Irfan Burney, chairman of the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (Nescom), senior officers from the strategic forces and scientists and engineers of various strategic organisations.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated the scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.
