Modi greets V.R. Krishna Iyer on 100th birthday


New Delhi, Nov 13 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday wished former Supreme Court judge, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer on his 100th birthday.

"Warm birthday wishes to an icon in Indian public life, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer as he turns 100. I pray that he is blessed with good health," Modi said in a tweet.

He said: "Justice Iyer's life and works are an inspiration to all of us. My interactions with him have been very enriching. I learnt a lot from him."

A former Supreme Court judge, Krishna Iyer was a minister in the first communist government in Kerala and the CPI-M's candidate for the presidentship of India in 1987. He is also a civil rights activist.
