PM’s doors open for separatists: BJP

Srinagar, Nov 12 (PTI): A day after Sajjad Lone met Narendra Modi, BJP today said the doors of the Prime Minister were open for the separatists if they join the national mainstream and the party would welcome all to join his efforts for the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We welcome all to join the efforts of the Prime Minister for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. You (separatists) give up separatism and come forward, the doors of the Prime Minister are open for you. Through separatism, you are meeting the
Prime Minister of Pakistan or its High Commissioner here. Come into national mainstream, the doors of your own Prime Minister are open,” BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav told reporters here.

He said development of the state was very high on the Prime Minister’s agenda and all “well-intentioned” people, for whom the development of Kashmir was of prime importance, should come forward to join his hands.
On his meetings with the leaders of various small parties, Madhav said he had met them with a message of development.

“On earlier occasions when I came here, I tried to talk to people who would be interested in strengthening the hands of Modi and help to develop Kashmir, tourism, and turn Srinagar into a major tourist destination, provide employment to people here, develop economic activity and industrialization here.

“That was the message with which I came here on the earlier occasions. But now I came here purely for electoral purposes. I have met several people and I don’t want to discuss all that now,” he said.

Madhav said the party wants such a government in the state which can move forward shoulder-to-shoulder with the Prime Minister. “We have to rebuild the valley after the floods and do a lot of work for the rehabilitation of the affected people,” he said.

Madhav said the party was contesting the Assembly polls on its own and Lone’s meeting with Modi should not be seen as that of having a pre-poll alliance.

“Be clear that we are contesting the elections on our own. We are contesting on many seats in the state and we hope to win maximum number of them, both in Jammu and Kashmir divisions including Ladakh. The talk of alliances and all will only be after the polls. Our aim is to relieve the state of dynastic rule of both NC and PDP,” he said.

Madhav, a former RSS spokesperson who joined BJP recently, said the purpose of his two-day visit to the Valley was to encourage party candidates to secure good number of seats. He said any person belonging to the state can become the Chief Minister regardless of his religion or caste. The BJP national general secretary, however, evaded questions on the party’s demand of revocation of Article 370, saying “BJP state unit will come out with a manifesto and you will get answers to all those questions once it is out”.

Earlier, Madhav was present at a function were several political activists from various parties joined BJP. They include Mir Mushtaq Nowsheri from Uri, former district president Congress, Khalid Dar of Shangus son of the former MoS Home of JK, late Mohammad Maqbool Dar and Ghulam Mohiuddin from Langate.

why was the BJP, the then opposition leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jetley so vocal and against Dr Manmohan Singh when he desired to speak to Pakistan and the seperatists to hammer out a peaceful settlement to the vexed problem of terrorism, a mennace the entire world including India. Now BJP a party of cowards is sheepishly toeing Mr Modi's line without the guts to tell him to stop discussion but work to seek their custody/ arrest them. For power (J&K elections) anything can be compromised is it?

Kashmir was a issue since 1947.. but until 1980s it was not this kind of mayhem!..

in 1985 Rajiv and Farooq Abdullah RIGGED THE ELECTION and Kashmir changed forever! Abdullah's were supposed to safe keep "HINDU MINORITY" there and they were slaughtered overnite and given a communal color from freedom movement, which spread everywhereelse.

RUBIYA SAYYED kidnap and reliving TERRORIST was unheard of until then, proved fatal and set a precedence and "SEPERATISM and MILLITANCY SPREAD in beautiful valley"!.. army was called in and millitants were flushed out...

few misguided ones, gave up arms and became informers.. but few like YASIN MALIK will never improve.. such should be sent to Pakistan permanently!..

all these seperatists care nothing for kashmir. if there is peace they will lose their financial help they get from over the world, including ISI. they have posh big houses in Delhi and they will be seen only there when kashmir mourns someones death or flash rains, floods!

give them a chance to join the mainstream and take the issue back to "pre 1980s days"! if Modi gets it done, that will be his achivement, cos Kashmir issue has no resoultion as such... atleast, trade, tourism, security, and free of fear atmoshphere is needed! AND FOR THAT , ABDULLAHs SHOULD BE SENT HOME, PERMANENTLY! let Omar, get married to the journo in New delhi and settle down in london..! :)

Where do you learn this kind of warped history from ?

I guess you forgot Jagmohan, whom the BJP later on made an MP and his wonderful contribution to ruining Kashmir using armed forces.

Jagmohan appointed by Indira, he single handedly ruined India's chances in Kashmir by playing the religious card of supporting the Hindus in Jammu and using the Army against the muslim population of Kashmir. That pretty much baked Indias cake there, which we are now trying to eat.

All elections in Kashmir are completely rigged. The muslim majority Kashmir never participates in the electoral process and they will not participate in this one too. There are 3 million people in Kashmir and close to a million armed forces including BSF etc. That is 1 person for every 3 Kashmiri's, It is not a normal place by any stretch of imagination.

I do not know what tourism this Ram Madhav is talking about.

this is what you feed to people!! Jagmohan was appointed by indira and had support of Rajiv Gandhi.. and BJP wasnt even there in significant form then! ... he just got glory to Jammu Vaishno shrine, thats it! miilitancy was a gift of Abdullahs and Mufti sayeeds of that country, who was in bed with congress and VP singh simultaenously!...

Jagmohan joined BJP much much later.. The Rajiv Farooq accord went horribly wrong and they rigged the elections! human rights is not only for muslims... Kashmiri Pandits were thrown out of the valley!..

even during peak of Godhra riots, muslims never fled Gujarat! Kashmir was a genocide and pogrom! kyun bekaar mein apna khoon garam kar lete ho... the decade 80s of saw proper pogroms of sikhs and kashmiri pandits!

And if BJP didnt rise, and united Hindus at that time, this would have kept on repeating, I am 100%sure! cos, congress always beleived in Mahatma Gandhis words of "Hindus are cowards and muslims are bullies"!

Pole opposite personality like Sajjad Lone, who was earlier a separatist and a Kashmiri Muslim is also mesmerised by Modiji's charm, vision, and work style.
So why Congis are behaving like frogs in the well. They should kick out inefficient and corrupt Itlaian amma and her less IQ son Pappu and support Modi for betterment of the country!

Give a break Jossey.. if separatist and terrorist join the main stream and get united with Indian constitution then 50% of our problems will be solved. Unless, somebody does not want India to develop and be peaceful no body can criticize the govt's efforts to establish peace in the region.

If there is bond of unity why should anyone think of separating?
    Berlin wall collapsed, Germany unified.
    USSR got divided.
    Lipton Brook-bond merged.
If we analyze history, happening around us contradictory.
