Congress to hold conference on Nehru's legacy, Modi not invited

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS): The Congress party will organise an international conference here Nov 17-18, to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The party has, however, not invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the conference.

Addressing media, Anand Sharma, Congress deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, said that the conference will discuss Nehru's view on democracy, inclusion, empowering India and representative global order.

"It will provide a platform to reflect on Nehru's worldview and legacy in the context of contemporary global challenges of 21st century," said Sharma.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will chair the conference and vice president Rahul Gandhi will lead the party delegation.

Congress sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been invited to the conference.
