Jayant Sinha takes charge as MoS Finance


New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS): Harvard Business School alumnus and son of former union minister Yashwant Sinha, Jayant Sinha Monday took charge as minister of state in the finance ministry.

Prior to joining the union council of ministers Sunday, Jayant was a member of two key parliamentary committees, on public accounts and on finance. He was part of the team that worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help frame national economic policy.

Sinha, 51, was elected to the Lok Sabha this year from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.

He holds a Master's degrees in business administration from the Harvard Business School, and in energy management and policy from the University of Pennsylvania after graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.

Sinha's career as an investor and strategy consultant includes 12 years with McKinsey and Company as a partner in their Boston and Delhi offices. At McKinsey, Sinha co-led the global software and IT services outreach.

He is an old friend of Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan from their time together at IIT, Delhi.
