AIIMS, DDU hospital organise cancer screening progammes


New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS): The All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Deen Dayal Upadhya Hospital here organised cancer screening programmes Friday to improve awareness among the people.

The events were held after the ministry of health and family welfare's suggestion to all stakeholders in the healthcare delivery systems to this effect.

On the occasion, Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital announced that it would run a dedicated out patient department (OPD) for cancer screening in surgery, gynaecology and ENT departments with diagnostic backup from the radiology and pathology departments.

The hospital has also started a breast cancer service with OPDs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays.

"Cancer clinics are already being run for Gynaecology department on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and for ENT department on Friday afternoon," said a statement from the Deen Dayal Upadhaya hospital.
