'Need to tell people how economic reforms help them'

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS): There is a need to tell people how economic reforms work to their advantage, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Thursday.

Speaking at the India Economic Summit here, Naidu noted that economic reforms were necessary to generate wealth.

He said it is necessary to have a dialogue with the people to let them know how reforms benefit them.

Referring to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the creation of the new state of Telangana, Naidu said he has a unique challenge of building a new state and setting up missions in areas such as urban development, infrastructure and industry among others.

The chief minister said he was working in mission mode in areas such as agriculture, poverty eradication and irrigation among others. Lauding the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said he has tweaked some of them to suit conditions in his state.

Naidu said his government was keen to take advantage of the long coastline of Andhra Pradesh and was developing ten new ports.
