Kashmir polls: Security core group reviews arrangements


Jammu, Nov 5 (IANS): A meeting of the security core group was held Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir to review the security ahead of the assembly elections in 10 districts of Jammu region, officials said.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the White Knights Corps in Nagrota in Jammu district, a defence ministry statement said.

The meeting took stock of the prevailing security situation in 10 districts of Jammu region.

It was co-chaired by GOC White Knight Corps, Lt. Gen. K.H. Singh, and Director General of Police (DGP) K. Rajendra Kumar.

Officers of the army, police, paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies attended the meeting.

A joint strategy was chalked out to ensure peace and stability and ensure incident-free elections.

Balloting for the 87-member legislative assembly will be held in five phases between Nov 25 and Dec 20.
