Of 33 teachers, 21 found absent in Gurgaon school


Gurgaon, Nov 5 (IANS): The education authorities here Wednesday made a surprise visit to a school and found 21 of its 33 teachers were absent. A day's salary of the absentee teachers will be deducted, an official said.

A special team, headed by district education officer (DEO) Manoj Kaushik visited the Government Senior Secondary School at Badshahpur.

"The team conducted visit during prayer session. Students and school campus was neat and clean, but 21 teachers out of total 33 posted in the school were found absent," DEO Kaushik said.

Recently, an order was issued by the education department that all schools authorities will keep themselves, their students and school neat and clean and will have to reach the school in time.

"Later, most of absent teachers, including women, reached the school when their colleagues informed them about the surprise visit, but we have ordered to mark these teachers absent and their one salary will be deducted," he said.

The school principal was present but was warned for not informing higher authorities about the behaviour and habit of teachers reaching late.

Kaushik said that such raids will be regularly conducted in the future.
