Modi congratulates Manmohan Singh for Japan honour


New Delhi, Nov 5 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday congratulated Manmohan Singh on receiving one of Japan's top national awards, the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers.

"(It is a) Matter of joy and pride that Japan has conferred Dr. Manmohan Singh with Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers. Congrats to him," Modi said.

The Japanese embassy Monday announced that the former prime minister will be conferred the Grand Cordon of the Paulownia Flowers for his "significant contribution" towards boosting bilateral ties.
