Kundapur, Nov 2: Two teenaged boys met watery grave in the taluk in two separate water tragedies that occurred in the last couple of days.

Santhosh (16), son of Suresh Gouda of Koteshwar and a SSLC student of Koteshwar Pre-University College drowned in the Koteshwar Temple lake while swimming.  He had gone to swimming along with his friends to the lake after a function in his school on Wednesday November 1 afternoon.

Though people tried to rescue him, he was already out of reach in the deep.  However, they managed to pull him up and even rushed him to the hospital.  Nonetheless, he breathed his last on the way.

In another case a 14-year-old boy who had gone to take bath in the river near Kollur, drowned on Monday October 30 evening.  He is identified as Shartchandra, a class IX student of local high school.  He was the son of Manjunath Adiga of Udupi.

However, he was staying in his uncle (maternal) Gajendra Joyisa's house at Kollur for education. His body was fished out of water on Tuesday October 31.  The Kollur police have registered a case in this regard.
