Beltangady, Nov 2: Three officials were sentenced to three years imprisonment for misappropriation of funds.

The local court granted imprisonment to S Kanaveermat, agricultural assistant and Govind Reddy and D Krishnamurthy, agriculture officers.

The three were accused of preparing bogus records to show that two vented dams were built at Uruvalu village and Puttila village in 1992 under the Millon Wells Scheme.

A case was registered against them following complaint by the Agriculture department on misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 50,000.

The accused have also been awarded penalty of Rs 2,000.
