Polling stations to be shifted in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, Nov 1 (IANS): The polling stations situated near the border in Jammu and Kashmir would be shifted to safer places if Pakistani forces attempt to disrupt the state assembly election, an official said Saturday.

Provincial administration sources told IANS that about 650 polling stations have been identified to be vulnerable to Pakistan shelling in areas close to the border.

"Alternative places have been selected for the polling stations vulnerable to Pakistan shelling. If there will be any untoward incidents during the polling days or before, these stations would be shifted to safer places," a senior official told IANS.

The polling stations which are vulnerable to shelling are located in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri districts.
