Will push for a Gurgaon Development Authority: Ministers


Gurgaon, Oct 31 (IANS): Union Minister Rao Inderjeet Singh and Haryana Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Friday said separately that they will push for the establishment of a Gurgaon Development Authority (GDA).

Union Minister of State (independent charge) Statistics and Programme Implementation, Planning and Defence, Rao Inderjeet Singh Friday flagged off and participated in the 'Run For Unity' race organised here on the occasion of the 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first home minister.

While speaking to media persons during the event, Inderjeet Singh said, "I will push for a Gurgaon Development Authority, the demand which I raised first to resolve the issue of multiplicity of authorities in the city."

Rao Narbir Singh, while talking to reporters in the mini secretariat here after his first meeting with senior officials, also said that he will try his best to establish GDA for this millennium city.

"I will put in all my efforts to establish GDA and I am sure we will be able to do it in the coming years," Narbir said.

Gurgaon has a nearly 25 lakh population and needs a single authority like GDA to resolve it's multiple civic and other problems.
