Myanmar starts first multilateral domestic talks


Nay Pyi Taw, Oct 31 (IANS): Myanmar's first multilateral roundtable summit talks on domestic political affairs started Friday at the Presidential Palace here.

Attending the talks are 14 representatives of the government, parliament, political parties, the military and the Union Election Commission, including President U. Thein Sein and two vice presidents, speakers of the two houses U. Shwe Mann and U. Khin Aung Myint, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing, Xinhua reported.

Representatives from political parties are Aung San Suu Kyi of the National League for Democracy and U. Htay Oo of the Union Solidarity and Development Party.

The Union Election Commission is represented by U. Tin Aye.
