Ghaziabad woman delivers conjoined twins

Ghaziabad, Oct 29 (IANS): A 31-year-old woman Wednesday delivered conjoined twins at a hospital here but the babies could not survive, doctors said.

Preeti, wife of Pradeep and a resident of Preet Vihar in east Delhi, delivered the children at 5.30 p.m., said Keshav Tyagi, director of Anand Hospital.

The woman was admitted Tuesday, and a surgery was conducted Wednesday.

Hospital surgeon Manju Tyagi said after the surgery: "The children could not survive long. They breathed their last at 8 p.m."

Preeti is being kept in the hospital for post-surgery recovery. The hospital has deputed private security guards in view of a heavy rush of people to see the conjoined twins, said Tyagi.
