Police deny permission for holding 'kissing session' at Kochi

Kochi, Oct 29 (IANS): Police have denied permission for holding a "kissing session" at the Marine Drive here Sunday evening, meant to counter the increasing instances of moral policing in the state.

A group of young social media buffs has asked men and women, young and old, to turn up at the Marine Drive to express their love in public.

The event "Kiss of Love" was meant to protest the recent attack by Yuva Morcha activists on a cafe at Kozhikode after a TV channel here showed young men and women who hug and kiss when they come to the place for a soft drink or snacks.

The message had gone viral in the social media.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in a press release Wednesday said the "Kiss of Love" is being spread through social media and it is trying to find out whether the event is really being planned or it is a fake one.

"Since the alleged programme is not sponsored by any known group or organisation there is no authenticity to the news being spread. In such a situation it is not wise to go for any direct action but instead initiate legal action and create public awareness against this.

"The other news being spread in the name of VHP that we will physically prevent the programme is not genuine as we have not taken any such decision at the district or state level," said the VHP.

    @Dinesh Poojary, Kundapura/Bengaluru,
You are saying our Hindu culture must prevail..Do you know what Gandharva Vivaha is? The event here is not that Vivaha it's only a kissing. In Hindu Purana, many have got married through Gandharva Vivaha. It's just, you like a girl and get marry on the spot even without any witness and without the consent of families. Then you can leave her. Just read about Dushyanth-Shakuntala, Bheema- Hidimba etc. In modern times it's called one night stay. So do you really want that culture to get prevailed? Please get adequate knowledge before commenting and don't comment to show your practice is superior than others. We are Indians and have faith in unity in diversity.

Who said that leaving is okay in gandharva marriages? This is your added flavour since those are mythological stories even if bheema left hidimba then it was out of some sort of compulsion as the events took place in a forest. Simply you have also added more senseless colour by calling it a one night stay. I can goto the court with this statement of yours and make you shuttle between your house and court forever. Dont make hopeless arguments here for the sake of saying something. Likewise christians of india are hindu converts and even your forefathers left their mother religion hinduism and its like abandoning one's own mother so dont throw shit at others.. look at yourself first..

    Dear Pramod
Even though I don't support the kissing in public event, My aim to write so was to show we have a diverse culture and all have pros and cons. Let us not indulge in showing my practice is better than others. And surely because of the caste system many have gone away from the root culture. I love and practice some of the Hindu practices because I feel they are sensible and good for health.

In the long run, as technology progresses, this so called mythology will disappear. These are all CHANDAMAMA stories. When such situation arise, RSS, VHP, BAJRANG DAL, RAM SENE etc have to start Beedi tying business. LOL.

we can have numerous instances(stories) in every religions of the world, that we can tell mythology or chandamama stories.that may be true or false.

humans tend to think everything according to current prevailing environment of the world and make assumptions.

the so called scientists still could not find what is the length and breadth of universe.

we dont know what were the situations several thousands years ago.

humans whom the god showered with wisdom and intelligence compared to all other creatures in this world should not fight in the name of religions as different religions are path to the same god.

    good day,thanks

what you mentioned are taboos and not culture.dont assosciate it with culture.

why you want to degrade home makers job which is a dignified job like any other jobs?

east is having very good family structure so thier current generations are excelling in every fields and western family structure has gone into doldrums.

homemaker are the reason a family sustains and devolops so that thier future generation succeeds in life.

nowhere it is mentioned that women should do homemaker job only.even in west until recently women were doing homemaker job.

even in india today women do every job like the west.this is the need of the time and hindu culture did not impose any ban on doing job outside.infact there were many women who ruled vast kingdoms in past in india.

what do you call pedo****ess,g*y marriages, and n@de beaches in foreign countries, consuming drugs as legal.do you want to associate it to culture?its not culture but taboos.know the differences between culture and taboos practiced by some insane people.

    good day,thanks.

there is only one culture that is behaving with respect and decency.east has given to west more than what west has given to east.ask ant westerner,he will agree to this statement.

somebody talked about majority of indians defacating in public.if govt doesnt construct enough public toilets within every 200 meters range, people have no option.

even westerners would do the same thing what indians do in the given curcumstances.infact in the countryside in west they behave same as indians when they are out as they have no option.

thats why modi told building toilets is one of the important priority for his govt.

    good day,thanks.

I do not understand why the police should stop such an event, the event is not bad by itself, but, probably the outcome of it may be not good. A kiss says it all, I love you, I need you, I dream of you and above all I will never ever forget you. As the kisses get more passionate and hotter, the hands and fingers slid all over and a turbulent pain burns thru the body. Kissing is like drinking salted water and the thirst only increases. After the kiss, people start praising each others' body in English, Kannada and in Braille. Some women feel like they are falling, floating like Alice in Wonderland after the kiss. It gives a craving for animalistic desires and kisses are so sweet, you tend to ask "please spend the night with me." Probably police know all this.

    Holding kissing session?
Why show somebody and make them jealous,
When you do it for yourself?
    Yes I understood:
