Delhi Metro to halt services at 8 p.m. on Diwali

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS): The Delhi Metro will stop its services at 8 p.m. Thursday on account of Diwali, a statement said Tuesday.

"The last metro train service Oct 23 will start at 8 p.m. from all the terminal stations of metro lines including Airport Express Line," a Delhi Metro statement said.

The terminal stations include Dilshad Garden, Rithala, Jahangir Puri, Huda City Centre, Noida City Centre, Dwarka Sector-21, Vaishali, Kirti Nagar, Inderlok, Mundka, Mandi House, Badarpur, and New Delhi on the Airport Express Line.

"The metro services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from 6 a.m. onward on all lines and from 4.45 a.m. on the Airport Express Line," it said.

On the occasion of Bhai Duj Oct 25, the Delhi Metro will keep two extra standby trains on each line to handle the passengers rush, if required.

It will also deploy more customer facilitation agents to help and guide commuters at busy metro stations and will also operate additional ticket counters to handle increased load on the ticketing system, if required, it said.

"The metro services Oct 25 will be available from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on all the lines, and from 4.45 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. on the Airport Express Line," the statement said.
