Puttur, Oct 19:  The Kadaba police have arrested one person with regard to illegal cattle running at Kenjala on Gundya-Subrahmanya Road in the Kadaba police station limits on Wednesday October 18.

A total of 36 cattle were transported on two lorries from Sakleshpur.  The activists of Hindu organizations who received news about this illegal cattle running, stopped the lorries at Kenjala and informed the Kadaba police.  However, drivers of both the lorries and two more persons who were travelling on these vehicles managed to escape.

By the time police arrived on the spot, only a cleaner of the lorry was present.  Police arrested him.  He has been identified as Balan (35).  Police seized the lorries with cattle in it and brought them to the station.

Meanwhile some locals started gathering in front of the police station demanding the arrest of the accused.  However, the police assured them that the accused will be arrested soon.  It was only after this assurance that the group dispersed.

The Kadaba police have registered a case in this regard.
