Kiev, Oct 15 (IANS): A total of 36 people were detained in Kiev after a group of unidentified men attacked the police near Ukraine's parliament, authorities said.

The crowd Tuesday broke through a police cordon to reach the parliament building, attacking police officers with sticks and smoke bombs, reported Xinhua citing the press service of the interior ministry.

The attackers also threw stones at the building, smashing windows of the second and the third floors.

At least 15 police officers were injured during the clashes. They were hospitalised for closed craniocerebral traumas, bruises and burns, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on his Facebook page.
