Rain in Himachal brings down mercury


Shimla, Oct 14 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh Tuesday saw drop in temperature due to rainfall.

The state capital recorded a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius, a fall from Monday's 12.3 degrees.

Most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Kufri, Kasauli and Dharamsala recorded early morning showers, a Met official here told IANS.

Picturesque tourist resort Manali, some 250 km from Shimla, however, remained dry. It recorded a low of 7.6 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded the night temperature at 6.6 degrees Celsius.

Shimla saw 1.9 mm of rain, while Dharamsala, the venue for the fourth ODI between India and West Indies Oct 17, recorded 2.2 mm of rain. The latter recorded a low of 14.2 degrees Celsius.

Dharampur town in Solan district recorded 23 mm of rain.
