Constable shot dead in Delhi


New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS): A Delhi Police constable was killed Monday and another sustained serious injury when some unidentified people fired at them, police said.

The attack took place around 1:30 a.m. in west Delhi's Vijay Vihar when the two policemen were patrolling the area.

The dead constable was identified as Jagbir while the injured policeman, Narendra, is undergoing treatment at a hospital, a police officer said.

According to the officer, the policemen asked an auto-rickshaw to stop but it sped off. When they gave it a chase, some unidentified men sitting inside the vehicle fired at them.

The attackers, however, managed to flee from the spot.

Jagbir was hit in the chest while Narendra sustained bullet injuries in the back.
