Government to check blockages on NH-22: Himachal CM

Shimla, Oct 10 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Friday said the government was serious about the frequent blockages caused by landslides on the National Highway-22 in Kinnaur district and soon a permanent solution would be found.

Addressing a gathering at Pooh in Kinnaur, Virbhadra Singh said adequate parking facilities would be developed in the town and Kalpa at the earliest.

"I have deep-rooted relations with the people of Kinnaur and it will ever remain so in times to come," he said.

Officials said residents of Urni village, which suffered from landslides in the monsoon, have been demanding compensation for damage to their apple orchards and houses.

In July, residents of Urni met the chief minister in Shimla and demanded that the village be shifted from its present site.
