UDUPI, Oct 15: A suspected case of dengue has been reported from a private hospital in Udupi.

The preliminary blood sample test of a 23-year-old youth from Kemmannu, who has been proved positive to plasmodium vivax (malaria), also proved positive for dengue in the chromatography test.

The matter has been informed to the District Health Officer and the blood sample is yet to be sent for further test to the National Viral Institute, Bangalore.

The Department of Health is planning to take up surveillance of patients at Kemmannu sub-centre from Monday, sources informed.
