Puttur, Oct 15: In  a rare surgical procedure, a 12 centimeter-long worm was removed from the eyes of a person.

Dr K Vishwanat Bhat extracted this worm from the eyes of his patient Gangadar a resident of Perlampady.

Gangadar who had already lost vision in one of his eyes complained of eye pain. After diagnosis, his eye was operated.

The worm, which looks like thread is found rarely and in non-vegetarians, said Dr Bhat.
