Udupi, Oct 13: The Udupi zonal-level 'Suvarna Pratibha Karanji' and Suvarna Karnataka - 2006 celebrations were inaugurated by state medical education and district in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya at St Francis Xavier School at Udyavar near here on Thursday October 12.  The celebrations have been organized jointly by department of public instructions, Udupi zonal BEO office, St Xavier High School Udyavar and Alumni Association.

Fr Richard Coelho, parish priest, St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar led the prayer and blessed the occasion while local GP president Sarala Kotian presided over the function.  Award-winning teacher Kudi Vasanth Shetty, DKMU president Diwakar Shetty, deputy director of department of public instructions K Anand were also present on the dais.

School headmistress Sr Irene Tauro, Ramachandra Joshi of block resource centre and alumni association president Ronald D'Almeida.  Many persons who have excelled in their chosen fields were honoured on the occasion.

Udupi South BEO D Manjunathayya welcomed the gathering.  Ashuntha Lobo and Srinivas Rao compered the programme.
