Soldier killed in Kashmir IED blast


Jammu, Oct 4 (IANS): A soldier was killed and another injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district Saturday, a defence official said.

"Two soldiers of a foot patrol party were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Balnoi battalion area of the LoC in Poonch at 4.05 p.m.," defence spokesman, Col. Manish Mehta told IANS here.

One of the injured soldiers, identified as Sepoy Akshaya Godbole, succumbed to his injuries while Sepoy Shubam Khadatkar was evacuated to hospital for treatment, he said.
