Mangalore, Oct 12: MCC and the populace of the city have to wait still more to have a new mayor.  As per the MCC sources, mayoral election has now been postponed to Thursday October 26.

This was announced by MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary.  Earlier these columns had reported that the mayoral elections will be held on Tuesday October 17.  But owing to riots that rocked the city and curfew that followed the riots, the elections had to be postponed to the later date.

Hope this would be the final date and the new mayor would be elected on October 26, said a shopkeeper who runs in his shop just in front of the MCC building at Lalbagh here.
